Insurance for Arizona electrical contractors — certificates that pass, audits that don’t surprise you.

Service work, new construction, tenant improvements, solar and low voltage each rate differently. We make sure your policies describe the work you actually do, your crews are in the right class, and your certificates carry the endorsements GCs ask for.

What we check for you

  • Work description on your GL vs. the work you actually do (solar, service, commercial)
  • Class codes for electricians, apprentices and office staff
  • Van, tool and inventory coverage
  • Additional insured and waiver endorsements for GC contracts
  • Umbrella limits for commercial and multifamily jobs
Who this is for

Contract requirements you’ll see

What GCs and property managers ask electricians for.

Sub agreements for electrical work typically require:

  • Additional insured status for the GC and owner, including completed operations (often on CG 20 10 / CG 20 37 forms or their equivalents)
  • Primary & non-contributory wording, so your policy pays before theirs
  • Waiver of subrogation on GL, workers’ comp, auto and umbrella
  • Per-project aggregate so one job can’t use up the limit for every other job
  • Minimum limits — commonly $1M per occurrence / $2M aggregate, plus an umbrella
  • Notice of cancellation to the certificate holder

Send us the insurance page of your contract

Before you sign, forward the insurance requirements (usually an exhibit or a paragraph titled “Insurance”). We’ll tell you what your current policies already meet, what needs an endorsement, and what it would cost to close the gap — before the GC’s risk manager rejects your certificate.

Coverage

Coverage for the trucks, the tools and the work.

Every line priced at minimum, standard and higher limits — with your contract requirements as the floor, not an afterthought.

Liability

General liability

Including completed operations — electrical fire claims can come long after the job closes.

Workers’ comp

Workers’ compensation

Electricians, apprentices and clerical staff in their correct classes; your experience mod checked for errors.

Auto

Commercial auto

Service vans and pickups, plus hired & non-owned auto.

Equipment

Tools & equipment

Inland marine for tools, testers, lifts and wire inventory on the truck or on site.

Professional

Professional liability

For design-build, engineering-support or system-design work that a GL policy may exclude.

Excess

Umbrella / excess

The $2M–$5M+ many commercial GCs require.

Cyber

Cyber liability

For low-voltage and security contractors with remote access to client systems.

Bonds

License & contract bonds

License and contract bonds: tell us what you need (ROC license bond, bid, performance or payment bond) and we’ll check whether we can place it through our network. We can’t promise every bond, but we’ll give you a straight answer.

Typical risks

Where electrical contractors get hurt.

  • A fire traced back to your work years later, with thin completed-operations limits
  • Solar or battery work not described on the policy
  • Apprentices or foremen classified wrong — found at audit
  • Tools stolen from a van with no inland marine coverage
  • A certificate rejected because it lacks primary & non-contributory wording
How it works

Honest timing, start to finish.

  1. Send us what you haveUpload your dec pages or policies (GL, workers’ comp, auto, equipment, umbrella) or email them to [email protected]. Add your EMR worksheet and a sample contract’s insurance section if you have them.
  2. Written Cost & Risk report within 24 hours of receiving your documentsWe read every line: class codes, experience mod, limits against your contract requirements, endorsements, exclusions and gaps. This is the review — not carrier quotes.
  3. A 15-minute callWe walk you through what we found, in plain English. If nothing needs fixing, we tell you that — you keep the report either way.
  4. If you want options, we shop itWe market your account to multiple carriers in our network. Carrier quotes typically take 1–2 business days once underwriters have what they need (payroll by class, loss runs, vehicle and equipment lists).
FAQ

Electrical contractor insurance questions.

Does my GL cover solar installation?
Only if the policy and the carrier’s underwriting allow it. Some policies exclude or limit roof-mounted or battery work. Send us your policy and we’ll check the wording.
Are my tools covered by my GL or auto policy?
Generally no. GL covers damage you cause to others; auto covers the vehicle. Tools and equipment need an inland marine (tools & equipment) policy.
Why did my workers’ comp audit come back higher than my estimate?
Common reasons: payroll grew, someone was moved into a higher-rated class, or payments to subs without their own workers’ comp were added to your payroll. We check the audit worksheet with you.
How fast can I get a certificate for a new GC?
Send us the GC’s requirements and we turn certificates around quickly. If the contract needs an endorsement you don’t have yet, we’ll tell you what it takes to add it.
